I was born and raised in Columbus, attended Lee High School and was involved in sports and other activities. I Received a Bachelor and Master Degrees in education from Mississippi State University. I have been an educator for thirty-two years at the university and community college levels. I have taken great pride in help young people find a career that will allow them to provide financially for themselves and their family. I am currently the department head of the Drafting and Design Program for East Mississippi Community College at Mayhew. I am married to Tammy Maners, also a life-long resident of Columbus. We have a daughter (Cori) which resides in Hattiesburg. As a family we attend the First Presbyterian Church of Columbus.
My Vision for the City of Columbus: My vision for the city is for growth and that the city can become the economic center of the Golden Triangle. I believe this can best be done by emphasizing and expanding retail sales and tourism. I believe that we must invest in ourselves for our city to grow. This will take a commitment on everyone’s part. Our city must undergo change and we must look at annexation. I would also like to see our city increase opportunities for our children in sports and education. Our city can best accomplish these goals by a unified effort to attract new individuals to locate and invest in Columbus.
