George Irby - Director of Federal Programs

Serving Since: June 5, 1985

Experience: I have worked for the past twenty-one (21) years in the Office of Federal Programs writing and administering grants and 5 years in the Building/Inspection Department as administrator.

Family: Three children - 2 (two) boys and 1 (one) girl.

Interest/Hobbies: I have an interest in Historic Preservation. My favorite hobbies are playing golf and landscaping.

Vision for the City: I can see Columbus living up to its nickname, "the friendly city," a place where people want to work and rear their families. My vision is that the City of Columbus be listed in the Nation's top ten (10) of the cleanest cities in America. Also, my vision for City government is that all departments be as customer-friendly as any five-star hotel and to be more internet-friendly and provide as many services as possible to the public through that medium. In the Building Inspection Department, I would like for all ordinances, zoning regulations and maps to be placed on this website. I have a broader vision for the City; hopefully the vision stated above will give some idea of my total vision.
