Fire Station Number 1(662)329-5121 Fire Station #1, built in 1981 and located at 205 7th Street South, is headquarters for Columbus Fire and Rescue and is home to 30 fire personnel. It houses Engine Companies 21 and 30, Ladder Company 29 and rescue boat. The Luxapalila, one of two steam-powered fire engines used to fight fire in Columbus in the 1880’s is on display at Station #1 and is an attraction to visitors in Columbus, both young and old. Offices for the Fire Chief, Chief of Training, and Administrative Assistant are located at this station. Fire Station #1 is dedicated to the memory of Ralph “Chicken” Webb, a local businessman who volunteered many hours at Columbus Fire Department.
