Haz Mat Team   The Haz-Mat Team at Columbus Fire and Rescue has 21 members and is part of the Golden Triangle Region Haz-Mat Team made up of members from fire departments representing Columbus, Starkville and West Point . This specialty team was formed to perform pre-planning and research into chemical and environmental emergencies and to respond to incidents that threaten life, property and/or the environment to control the hazard. Team members have received training in Haz-Mat Technician Levels I and II, Chemistry, and WMD training from MS Fire Academy, National Fire Academy, Center for Domestic Preparedness at Anniston, AL, New Mexico Tech, Texas and LSU.
