   The Columbus Mayor's Youth Council (CMYC) is dedicated to fostering improvements in our community by influencing public policy, particularly those that affect youth, in addition to being active participants in community service.

   This application must be filled out in its entirety. Incomplete applications are will not receive priority.

38. **Essay Question: If you possessed the qualifications and the skill to fill any government related role in your municipality: school board member, mayor, council member, serving on the board of supervisors, police chief, city engineer, chief operations officer, etc., what would it be? Write an explanation detailing why you would choose that role, what changes you would make in that role, and what skills, characteristics, or volunteer experience you possess as of now that would help catapult you into that career choice or make you a great candidate for that role. Ensure that your response is relevant as in that it includes a government-related role that exists in Columbus or the broader Lowndes County. For instance, writing about why and how you would become a city manager would not be a valid response, because the city of Columbus does not have a city manager.
