CITY OF COLUMBUS, MISSISSIPPI
The City of Columbus is accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Firefighter.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must be a citizen of the United States. Applicants must also have attained a standard high school diploma or have received a valid GED. A copy of the diploma or GED certificate MUST be submitted to the City’s Human Resources Office.

Applicants must provide proof of ACT score prior to being taking CPAT test. Required score is 15 or higher.
Applicants will be given a general information sheet, including salary for this position, upon request for an application.
The City has a generous benefit package, which includes paid vacation and sick leave, holiday pay, health, dental and life insurance, and a retirement plan.
Firefighters work 24-hour shifts.
The City of Columbus has adopted a Nepotism Policy that is discussed in detail on the application for employment and must be signed as part of the application process.
Each applicant must attend a scheduled MANDATORY Orientation session that will cover firefighting procedures and policies, hours, and the City’s benefit package.
